All that we did know about time the astronomers have taught us. The only absolute measure at time was the stately procession of the stars as the revolution of the earth brings them across the zenith.

Elgin Streamline 1917

The Streamline Series of Watches brought the Elgin Company into the limelight as designers of complete watches. For fifty years (in 1917) this great organization had designed and built watch movements of world famous excellence. In 1917 it was designing both movement and case as a complete unit, under the Elgin guarantee.
The Streamline was a man's watch, dressed in a style that will last perfect balance, perfect harmony of case and movement. The design was notable for its smoothly flowing lines. The "close up" view at the left shows how the bow flows into the pendant, and the pendant into the curve of the case. The dial was equally distinctive.
Jewelers took pride in showing the $50 Streamline and the $25 Streamline, also Elgin Bracelet Watches for women. Illustrated folders were sent on request.
